Pharmaceutical labels for vials, bottles and ampoules

Self-adhesive labels for vials, bottles and ampoules — printed to the artwork you approve, in roll or sheet, sized to the container and to the applicator that will put them on.

Note on responsibility

We print to the artwork you approve. Regulatory responsibility for label content rests with the marketing authorisation holder. What we provide is disciplined artwork control, accurate reproduction, mock-ups for your regulatory review, and documented quality control on every run.

The container decides the label

A label for a small-diameter vial is a different product from a label for a wide bottle. Curvature decides how much of the artwork is readable at any one time, the adhesive has to suit the container material and the storage temperature, and if the label is applied by machine then the wind direction, core size and gap between labels are part of the specification rather than an afterthought.

Where a container is too small to carry the full particulars, DRAP’s guideline allows abbreviated labelling provided the outer pack carries everything required. That is your decision as the marketing authorisation holder — and a layout constraint for us, which is why we want to know the outer pack at the same time as the label.

What we produce

  • Vial and ampoule labels

Small-format labels sized to the curvature of the container.

  • Bottle labels

Front, back and wrap-around formats for liquids and syrups.

  • Roll labels for automatic application

Wound and gapped to your applicator’s specification.

  • Sheet labels

For hand application and short runs.

  • Tamper-evident and void labels

Constructions that show whether a pack has been opened.

  • Overprint panels for batch and expiry

Areas left clear and specified for your own coder.

Batch, expiry and code areas

Almost every pharmaceutical label carries something that is not printed by us: the batch number, the manufacturing and expiry dates, and often a 2D code, all applied on your line. Those areas are designed in, not left over — sized for the character set your coder produces, kept clear of varnish so the ink keys, and positioned where the applicator will not wrap them around a curve.

What must appear on the pack

The particulars required in Pakistan, the category-specific statements and the export exemption are set out in our guide — written from the DRAP labelling guideline for packaging and regulatory staff.

Questions

Questions about pharmaceutical labels

Anything not answered here, ask us directly — we would rather talk it through than have you guess.

Roll if the label is applied by machine — the wind direction, core size and gap between labels then form part of the specification. Sheet suits hand application and short runs. Tell us the applicator and we will supply to its specification.

Yes, and it should be designed in rather than left over. We size the panel for the character set your coder produces, keep varnish off it so the ink keys, and place it where the applicator will not wrap it around a curve.

Curvature limits how much of the artwork is readable at once, so the layout is built around what has to be visible in a single view. Where the container is too small to carry the full particulars, DRAP’s guideline allows abbreviated labelling provided the outer pack carries everything required — a decision for you as the marketing authorisation holder, and a reason for us to see the outer pack at the same time.

It depends on the container material, the storage temperature and whether the label has to survive refrigeration or condensation. Tell us the container and the storage condition and we will specify the face material and adhesive against them.

Yes, and running them together is the reason to. One colour reference across the label, the carton and the leaflet means the pack reads as one thing on the shelf rather than three items that were bought separately.
